Construction Estimate Understanding in Detail


Construction Unit


Construction units are defined at the organization level.


It can only have activities of its Organization.


Construction unit of one Organization can be copied to another.



Fields

Functionality
Name

Enter a Unique Name for Construction Unit
Description

Enter a description for the Construction Unit
Effective from

Enter the date of effective from which is mandatory.
Effective to

End date to which construction Unit is valid can be specified.
Activity

Give activities to be included in construction unit. At least one activity is required.
Activity Description

Will be picked automatically by system on selection of activity.
Quantity

Enter quantity to indicate amount of activity required for construction unit. The quantity  in activity routing and BOM will be multiplied by quantity given here.
Wip Accounting Class

WIP Class needs to entered manually by user.
Effective from

This must be after effective from date of construction unit.
Effective to

Activity will no longer be available in estimate after this date.



Construction Unit Search


Fields

Functionality
Name

Enter Construction Unit Name to search
Description

Enter a description for the Construction Unit search
Organization

Construction Unit can be searched entering Org. Org will be default FTO.
Wip Accounting Class

Enter WIP class to search for construction units with specific WIP class.
Activity

Enter activity name to search for it.
Advance search

Advance search can be used to enter further search criteria (Effective from/to).
Create Estimate

As any Construction unit is searched this button appears. Construction Units can be selected and construction estimate made for them.
Copy Construction Unit

Selected Construction Unit can be copied to same or other organizations and changes made.
Attachments

Attachments can be added to each Construction Unit.
Update

Each Construction Unit can be updated but previous activities cannot be deleted but quantity changed to zero. Or effective date can be changed.



Create Construction Estimate




Once Construction Estimate created and work orders generated it cannot be updated.


Work Orders created can be seen by opening construction estimate.


System Will not allow you to create Work Order with Numbers that Already Exist.
Select Activities


Fields

Functionality
Name

Give a Unique name for Construction Estimate.
Description

Enter the description for the construction estimate.
Construction Unit

Give the construction unit to be included in Construction estimate.
Construction Unit Quantity

The quantity given will be multiplied to activities quantity in Construction Unit and Quantity of resources and material in each activity will be multiplied to Activity Quantity.
Activity

Activities will be picked automatically which were defined in Construction Unit.
Activity Quantity

Will be picked from quantity entered on Construction Unit, can be changed on this form.
Difficulty Code

Difficulty codes will be defined under difficulty codes tab. When entered resource Multiplier value will change automatically to difficulty code entered value. It can be changed manually.
Resource Multiplier

Value entered will be multiplied with the quantity of resources.
Remove

Activities in each construction unit can be removed using this field.



Estimate Workbench


Fields

Functionality
Select Activities

Allows user to add more construction units(or activities) to an estimate.
Estimate Costs

Estimate Cost will estimate total cost of Material and resources to be used on performance of Construction Estimate. WO wise details will be shown (if work order number given).
Save

Will save changes to construction estimate. Once save Construction estimate can be updates but once work orders created it cannot be updated.
Name

Give a Unique name for Construction Estimate. (Will be picked automatically from previous page)
Description

Enter the description for the construction estimate.(Will be picked automatically from previous page)
Attachments

Any required files can be added the construction estimate.
Work Order Defaults

Group Rows By:
 1)Activity- Groups line by Activity Name. If 2 activities have same name system consider it as one. 2)Construction Unit- Groups lines by Construction Unit. If there are 2 construction units in an estimate it will make group each construction unit as one Work Order 3)Single Work Order- Considers 1 Construction Estimate as 1 work order. 4)WIP Accounting Class- Groups lines with same WIP class.

Other fields: When information entered in other fields this information is copied to each line depending on type of group rows defaulted :

Work Order: Field only available when Group by rows selected as Single Work Order. With this Work Order No. field will be updated at each line.

WIP Accounting Class: Will not be available when Group by rows selected as WIP Class as system with then consider that WIP class is already entered which is different at each line or activity.

Start Date/End Date: Used to update start date and end date of all lines together no matter what is selected in group by defaulf.

Asset Number/Project/Task/Status/Description : If entered, will be applied to all lines.
Delete Rows

Will Delete The Selected Rows.
Export

All lines entered can be exported in a CSV file to users computer.
Sort

Will be sorted on Work Order Sequence Basis. If no work order sequence exit will sort on Work Order No. If both exist system will consider Work Order sequence first.
Model Work Order

Work Order Sequence will be updated automatically by system depending upon type of defaults applied. Can be entered manually.

Work Order Number can be updated using both defaults or manually. If not given system will give automatically numbers to Work Orders generated.

Work Order Description needs to entered manually. Its optional.

Asset number can be given manually or using defaults.

WIP Accounting Class will not be picked up manually by system from asset form. Can be updated manually or by using defaults.

Source activity would be picked up from construction unit or estimate if defined. No activity will exist for manually entered lines.

Source activity would be picked up from construction unit or estimate if defined. No activity will exist for manually entered lines.

Cost for resource will be picked up from resource form and for material will be picked from inventory.

Data will be automatically populated in lines from activity routing and BOM. Other data can be entered manually in details. i.e Work Order type, status, activity source etc.
Parent Work Order

Create Parent Work Order: If selected system will allow to enter and create a new Parent Work Order for above Work Orders.

Parent Work Order: Can be selected from previous created work order or entered new (if create checkbox is selected).

Other Fields: Will be given according to user requirements.
